Anne Lundy (b. 1954)
Conductor Anne ‘Georgianne’ Lundy was the first African-American woman to conduct the Houston Symphony. She’s the founder of the William Grant Still String Quartet and the Scott Joplin Chamber Orchestra, both of which specialise in championing music by Black composers.

Oscar Micheaux
Hailed as the first major Black filmmaker, Oscar Micheaux directed and produced 42 feature films between 1919 and 1948.

He was a writer-turned-filmmaker, using his first novel “The Homesteader” to launch his career in the film industry.

Just found out Michael Bolton cancelled July 2025 London concert due to continued recovery from brain tumor. I continue to wish him well. I've been listening to him since my college days!

My trip to London may still happen but he was the centerpiece. :(
