I’ve never made em! Only driven through some weird parts of Brooklyn hunting for “the tamale lady”. I’m headed to Guatemala this Christmas so hopefully I get some lessons from pros!

No, definitely not at all spicy. I love capers and olives and garbonzos! It sounds very similar! Ours uses green olives, red peppers and a red recado sauce that is mild. God, I’m soul hungry now 😭

My mom is from Guate so these most closely resemble the tamales we got around Christmas. Right down to the banana leaves. Wonder how different they are spice-wise?

This is a nail salon in white plains, NY. I’m over visiting my sister and was taken for a pedicure. I just wish I’d been the one to come up with the tiny labubu protective space suits. 👀
