In the early 1890s, Potter was trying to break (unsuccessfully) into illustration. Harris’s “Uncle Remus” was a cultural phenomenon in the US and Britain. Potter tried her hand at drawing some illustrations of Brer Rabbit and submitted them to a publisher in Britain. They were rejected.

Tickled that this story in a random book I picked up of Irish Literature is the spitting image of Uncle Colm’s dialogue from Derry Girls.

Was gifted the FULL SET of Pop figure Muppets Xmas Carol characters at work today. 🎄 I used them to enact a brief summary of the plot to kids who don’t know either reference. 👌

Well—did the house up nice. Got out the 100 year old pine cone china print. Mulled some Smoking Bishop. And then—my 25 lb. cat announced himself by throwing up on the floor next to the dinner table AND using the litter box with his bottom hanging out so all my guests could see. Merry Christmas!

Went to the library today to find a book that was suggested to me for my current manuscript research. Had a thumb through—so many scribbles and the annoying kind too where the reader just *really* knew what they were talking about—I looked closer: it was MY handwriting from 2015.

I watched a 1995 Ed Wood documentary and was so taken with all I DIDN’T know about Vampira, I bought this book. She dated Orson Welles! My god.
