Also, things are always complicated in real life! I think all the bookstores I've seen sell traditionally published books. For the most part, indie bookstore doesn't mean indie writers.

I think, people like different kinds of books & it's unfortunate more writers & readers don't connect, about this kind of preference. For myself, I need characters, but I can see how someone might enjoy a book that is entirely about a world.

It does seem like "social" has multiple meanings. For me, social media feels like walking into a public market, you see people selling all kinds of things, and with a few people you can strike up a good conversation 🙂

As long as I like the writing style, I will keep reading. The story doesn't have to grip me quickly - I don't like stories always having a hook. I stop reading more often now than I used to, because I dislike AI style.
