Munchkin, a 6 month old gray kitten, is stretched out at the foot of my bed across a white comforter. Not visible is the outlet vent for my BedJet beneath the blanket (which I credit for saving my sanity during menopause) which is set on a warmer than usual 82 degrees this very chilly November morning. Behind him is a wooden dresser, a window with a blue to white ombré curtain, beneath which is our dog’s raised food dishes, and a standing wooden jewelry case.

Beaker, our Siamese mix, who is a quite hefty 13 lbs and is absolutely in no way starving to defff, peers down at me from the empty space I cleared on the shelf above my desk just for him because it is 11am and he has not eaten since 7am and obviously I am employing food deprivation as a method of torture and he is going to contact The Pawgue and have me arrested for feline rights abuses. Job done. Local elections are important too, because we won’t win back our country from the top down - but we can start with our communities and work from there. I don’t tell anyone how to vote, but do your research and make sure your candidates represent *you.*

Part of it consists of two cylindrical parts surrounded by rusty rebar; a large pile of gravel is in front of them. They are accompanied by a much taller and narrower square upright chute and behind that a slightly shorter, fatter square tower. A rusted hopper full of gravel awaits behind the cylinders for a cement truck to pick up the next load, but the mechanism is silent today. Between the tracks and the towers, a narrow strip of meadow holds a riot of yellow wildflowers growing tall enough to obscure the roadway behind it. Tallest of all is the feathery goldenrod providing a welcome feast for fall pollinators.

Munchkin, a gray shorthair six month old kitten, perches at the top edge of the navy blue pillow I am using as a writing surface for morning pages. He is in loaf position with his chin on his front paws and his extraordinarily long tail (on which a faint stripy pattern is visible that reminds me of a lemur) is curled around his body almost reaching his chin. His eyes are closed as he lightly naps, but his ears are positioned forward attentively.

Jesus said at the end of this parable, by which he meant “show mercy to others.” Not just to friends or people with whom we are familiar, but strangers.

Seems like folks professing they want a Christian nation would actually want the nation to follow the examples Jesus taught.

I had to get up eventually. When I came into the living room, Beaker, our Siamese cat, was curled up napping in “the box” (a Chewy box repurposed with a cozy blanket) obviously enjoying his moment of solitude (as Munchkin has basically co-opted it). That, of course did not last long as Munchkin decided to eke out a bit of space at the edge of the box to stretch out next to Beaker and continue his morning nap. Beaks has one paw curled around the edge of the box while Munchkin has one paw stretched out against Beaker’s backside.

A picture of Munchkin, my 11 week old gray kitten, curled up in the back shadows of one of my small dresser drawers - one that I store random junk in, like checkbooks and other office supplies. And he’s skipping the bottom drawer, which actually has a nice soft hoodie in it he could curl up in! He mad because I picked him out of his napping box next to my recliner and wrapped him in a towel like a purrito to put ointment in his eyes.😭
