YYJ Dog, Canadian by choice, embarrassing dad and partner. I know bikes are better than cars, but still have a car. Committed to reconciliation, freedom and peace for Palestine, and anti-racism (a work in progress).
Done. The only real issue is the unnecessary revving and unmuffled engine sounds. Since it’s not included here, I don’t think I added much.

Should we also ask them to endorse the removal of those pesky “Pedestrian lanes”. I mean look at all the wasted cement being dedicated to people who insist on “walking”! What the hell is that??!

Palm to face. So easy to mandate consultation on mineral claim staking before claims can be issued. Online, system can easily generate list of nations impacted, issue a notification letter with request for feedback. Standard procedure.
Instead you amend DRIPA?

“Leave it down the road”… isn't that the Theme Song for the do-nothings?

Did Michael Jackson & Diana Ross sing that?

Whoooops. Didn’t get to the stumps. I think he crawled away with at least one leg intact.

“Call it a draw!"

Repairing and patching the existing, ageing and decaying structures will be MUCH more costly going forward than anything proposed… So it will likely be kicked down the road for another 2 decades. Like the good old days … We need CP and RAP. But the square is the centrepiece of the city.

So how does this Council get that over the line? It’s not on the table now. Can we avoid another 20 years of decay?

Waiting for the “perfect plan” is both idealistic for some, and a delay tactic for others. Dickering around with the number of planters and colour of doors, instead of putting up nice things and getting things built.
You can change the colour of a door, add some planters or make adjustments later

Dean was definitely in “my time”. A good guy trying to make things happen with more “not quite-there” “could be better, so let’s wait" "do-nothing” Councils (like the ones that preceded and followed him.
40 years in this town-so much lost time. Last decade finally making progress-don’t "do nothing!"

Thanks so much for walking us through this. There are certainly a lot of neat elements in the original plan, and the obelisks would be great to have.
I just wonder what a person would think if —like me — they’d never seen the 2024 plans. I still really like it, and we need to improve downtown.

Councils cannot and do not direct police enforcement activities. This Council and many before it has given the Vic Pd escalating budget increases year over year, proving that relying solely on enforcement is a lose lose lose. Frmer Chief Del Manak did not help despite the $$$ he demanded.
