Many of us are here because we don't want to support Facebook. But I figure another approach is to call out Mark Zuckerberg and ask him where he stands now. Here is what I just posted on FB. Please feel free to copy and post if you are so moved.
Dear Mark Zuckerberg, Many of us have had our lives enriched by the communities we have found in Facebook. We have reconnected with old friends, found new friends. Right now, my friends and I are scared for the future of our country. As a user of FB and other Meta services, I am personally asking you, where do you stand? Are you supporting the current actions of President Trump and Elon Musk? As a concerned citizen I know my power of influence on national matters is limited; this is where you come in. As one of the richest people on the planet, you currently hold disproportionate political power. I know you celebrated the inauguration of President Trump. I assume some of that celebration waned when Elon Musk made a Nazi salute during the inaugural celebrations. I assume the discomfort increased as Trump appointed unapologetic racists to top governmental roles, and when Musk and his band of 20-somethings have accessed classified and private information. I know based on your own words that you are very concerned about freedom of expression. I assume you are concerned about the silencing of individuals and government entities trying to get messages out that are meant to protect people. And I assume because you are human that you are concerned about the cuts to humanitarian aid, that not only helps people across the globe, but also creates international stability that benefits the United States and its citizens. Make no mistake, silence from you is not neutral. Silence is support. Please let us know, where do you currently stand? Please feel free to copy and post, if you are so moved.
