I've always felt that so much sci-fi was too earth-centric so my solution as an author was to destroy the entire planet irreparably in the first paragraph...

As a sci-fi author whose hometown is currently being invaded by data centers, I say sci-fi must forever be an expression of human curiosity and rage as it always has been. Rage against institutions and systems such as these.

Ballad (right, they/them) is holding Meter (left, they/them) by the neck with their robotic arms, threatening to jab their eyes out. The characters and species pictured are from my book, which has yet to be published. Ballad is the lead scientist of the intergalactic government and Meter is their subordinate. Unfortunately, Ballad has taken an interest in abusing them. As for context, Ckiri present naked and fan out their ears when showing dominance.
