except for christians but really if youre christian you should just stop being christian

this also goes for other religions as well but i am speaking primarily from a muslim perspective because thats what i have the most familiarity with at this point

and while this is less of an issue with some books you should be even *more* vigilant of it when it comes to religious texts because of how easily they can be willfully misinterpreted for the sake of swaying people into ideologies that are harmful to them

translations are a good resource and having a translation alongside the book is a good help for learning the language at times

but they are also subject to the interpretations of the translator and are not a perfect 1:1 rendition of the source material

i suppose rather than being obligatory you should *want* to learn arabic as a muslim because not actually wanting to will be a massive hindrance to actually doing so

but regardless the point remains you should learn arabic and read the qur’an for yourself instead of solely relying on others

translation and relying on others to explain things to you is how you get folded into a kind of learned helplessness where you can be easily manipulated by fundamentalist groups and other such types that do not have your best interests at heart and want to exploit you

needless to say i am hopelessly dependent on the ingot

she regularly has to push past her limits and makes herself sick and has to ignore the chronic pain and fatigue because if she doesnt then her house remains disgusting and full of garbage
