i always thought this was because hanukkah wasn’t a high holiday, it was more robust to gentile co-option, especially as american jewry quickly tried to assimilate post war. it was a nonthreatening bit of jewishness that could be shaped to the christian mold without losing too much of the “point”

i tend to think this is a nice quality of euclidean geometry- that pythagoras’s theorem holds and is very simple. physical space is, almost axiomatically, euclidean at small scales. in the smoothie example, you might be able to create a metric which would map size of ingredient vectors to

damn this is sad to see! i really don’t think he was always like this. i remember him talking about how it wasn’t worthwhile to have bad-faith commentators on his podcast because it was a waste of time.

i saw the runtime and was like, oh sweet more chitchat from the boys than usual, but it turns out that the majority of the extra minutes are just reading the fucking excerpts
