Ouch... Some DMs just don't understand they are supposed to make the game fun (within reason), not try to make it too realistic or that the game is somehow DM vs Players. The DM wins if the players leave a game happy.

Yes, found a guy on reddit in my local area, had one game with him and had to let him go because he was too hard up on the rules, he even pulled out a 3 minute sand timer at one point and instantly gave me anxiety.
