I am a Queer mom, wife, Kiowan, author, & teacher; also a SUP loving, tattoo addict. I support equal rights for ALL. I’m a cancer surviving, MS fighting, migraine functioning, disabled liberal who says FREE Palestine, fuck MAGA, & decriminalize sex workers
If he came back now, I fear he wouldn’t recognize any of the people who claim to be his followers- in fact, he’d be horrified by what they have done in his name.

Agape love is supposed to be a distinguishing mark of a true follower of Christ.

Instead we have Christians saying empathy is bad, telling foreigners to return to their own land, supporting the brutal treatment of foreigners in our land, & providing cover for rapists, pdos, and abusers. (12/?)

At it very core, the Bible is about love and acceptance; Jesus calls for radical inclusion and compassion, viewing the foreigner not as an outsider to fear, but as someone to love and care for as if they were family, drawing from the shared human experience of vulnerability. (11/?)

Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt"

Jesus and His followers are called to extend radical hospitality, a cultural value in the Middle East, to outsiders, a practice rooted in Old Testament precedents like Abraham's welcome. (10/?)

His own family's experience fleeing to Egypt as refugees also underscores this theme of welcoming the displaced: "When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born.

The Old Testament commands Christians to treat them like native-born citizens, bec God's people themselves were once foreigners in Egypt. He emphasized this through the command to "love your neighbor as yourself" and by identifying Himself with the stranger who needs hospitality in Matthew 25. (8/?)

He had firm, clear, and constant expectations about how his followers should treat foreigners living in their land.

Jesus taught that foreigners (or "strangers" and "sojourners") should be loved and welcomed as one's own. (7/?)

Jesus also gave his followers a new command, this one is that by which his followers would be identified: "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:34-35)

Loving people means loving them where they are at, and loving them unconditionally - not just when they fit the version I agree with or get along with, but the potentially difficult version. It’s easy to love lovely people. God asks us to love all people. (5/?)

He then tells us who, exactly a “neighbor” is- not just those around us, like us, but extending it to include foreigners and outsiders, as shown in the Parable of the Good Samaritan.

The two most important things Jesus asked his followers to do was (1) love God and (2) love people.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (3/?)

A true Christian would show love and care to trans kids, to the migrants, to the poor, the weak, the ill. The Bible is pretty damn clear and constant about that. Matthew 22:36-40 says “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?
