This is a newish account because I need to yell about politics, so for the record: I believe that any person who wants to become an American citizen should be an American citizen. No exceptions, no caveats. Our country is exceptional and we should want as many people as possible to share that.
delmarra.bsky.social
Haha that is totally fair! I don't think you'll kick yourself the way I did missing McKellan/Stewart; it's a really interesting production but not unmissable by any means.

(Also Winters getting the line "where would you be if not for me?" works SO well, because in a sense I think it's true even if it's not obvious for their actual professional lives)

Right? Plus the guys who played Pazzo and Lucky were PHENOMENAL and so subversively brilliant throughout, it was the first time I felt genuinely uneasy whenever those characters were onstage.

I sincerely think Waiting for Godot works best when it's done by two actors who've been a famous duo elsewhere (McKellan and Stewart is the other recent and obvious example). The meta-narrative of "these two guys have been together FOREVER" works so well for the play.

Honestly? It was FASCINATING in a meta sort of way, because it's literally the only moment that they wink to the audience in any way, but while the audience was cheering, they were kind of acknowledging the absurdity by ignoring it if that makes sense? IDK I think Beckett would've dug it.

TBF they do do an air guitar moment and it brought the house down the night I was there
delmarra.bsky.social
No offense but are you fucking stupid
delmarra.bsky.social
...Lawler was the one who brought cameras and lackeys and you think JEFFRIES staged it?
delmarra.bsky.social
What trauma are you referencing?
delmarra.bsky.social
Because a much larger number of Americans are against losing their healthcare than they are against attacking blue cities and against authoritarianism
delmarra.bsky.social
I was about to say the same thing! Ask me about blue cheeses PLEASE
delmarra.bsky.social
I think that's what tomorrow's hearing is for
delmarra.bsky.social
OMG Judge Sparkle is back!
delmarra.bsky.social
...no? What a weird question.
delmarra.bsky.social
That would require the GOP majority to hold her in contempt.
delmarra.bsky.social
Germany lost a world war in order to get to that point.
delmarra.bsky.social
Your problem is that they're not... hysterical enough? OK
delmarra.bsky.social
You, too. Is it asshole day or something?
delmarra.bsky.social
I mean no, Abrego-Garcia's case is much, much, much worse. But in both cases I agree that they should be dismissed for clearly vindictive prosecution.
delmarra.bsky.social
I sincerely have no idea what you're saying or why you're being so performatively furious at me, but it's annoying and I'm blocking you. I made a point about how law enforcement has historically been reluctant to go after their own; calm the fuck down.
delmarra.bsky.social
Yes, I agree. That's why the word "if" exists.
delmarra.bsky.social
What a weird and creepy response from someone who wasn't even part of this conversation.
delmarra.bsky.social
Well and also being a shitty human being who wants to hurt others is not exclusive to any race, ethnicity, gender or nationality. Every group has a percentage of evil people who like inflicting pain on the vulnerable.
delmarra.bsky.social
I think there's merit to the point that, even if Comey were clearly guilty of some crime, there would be *some* reluctance in the DOJ to go after him. But I agree that the fact that *nobody's* willing to do this says a lot.
