Husband. Nurse. Pescatarian. Injured runner. Hobbling walker. Wet swimmer.

Democratic socialist. Internationalist. Humanitarian.
These cases are incredibly rarely taken to court because the law is so far removed from reality.

Much the same as England and Scotland are not Christian countries simply because they have a church established in law.

Any argument that they are Christian countries is not based in reality.

What a peculiar question.
Of course laws exist.
But they are not reflective of people’s lived experience.
The reality of modern life is far more nuanced than our antediluvian legal systems.

It is a matter of law that it is an offence for someone working in a licensed establishment to sell alcohol to someone who is drunk.
(Licensing Act 2003 s141)

The lived experience of pub goers is very different.

“De facto” is everything.

FFS, don’t tell Trump!
If he thinks it’s a crime-ridden dystopian hellscape he won’t visit.
If he knew the realty he’d stick a golf course in Hyde Park and never leave.

The constitutional situation in England (not the whole UK!) is anachronistic.

The reality of life in the UK is that religion or belief are only an issue for a small minority who hold extreme positions.

For the vast majority religion or belief are not part of the state.

A de facto secular state.

Will they get Airmen O’Malley & Rodriguez to testify that Epstein altered the Tower Chief’s log..?
February 18, 2026 at 11:23 AM
The UK is not a Muslim country.

But neither is it a Christian country.
Or a Jewish country.
Or a Hindu country.
Or a Sikh country.
Or a Buddhist country.
Or an atheist country.
Or an agnostic country.

It’s a tolerant, respectful, essentially secular country.

Live and let live.

Great work from @vicderbyshire.bsky.social
He really didn’t want to go through the list. I wonder why..?
Are there protected characteristics he takes issue with?

So is Gibraltar now a potential route into the EU for UK exporters..?

Fly goods to Gibraltar, cross into Spain… the EU is your oyster.

This time next year Rodney, we’ll be millionaires…
February 17, 2026 at 8:11 PM
I can’t imagine the people of Gibraltar are terribly concerned about upsetting Farage.

But in fairness, neither am I!
February 17, 2026 at 8:10 PM
Perhaps it’s time for the press to stop asking questions and stop reporting anything other than the claims made and the veracity thereof..?
February 17, 2026 at 7:01 PM
Trumpian.

(And if NF or his acolytes are reading this, that’s NOT a compliment!)
February 17, 2026 at 12:55 PM
Leaving ECHR
Repealing HRA
ICE style “Deportation Command”
Concentration Camps for migrants
Scrapping ILR
Undermining equality for all
Christian nationalism

Those 24% of morons are voting that way because Farage et al speak to their racism, bigotry and British exceptionalism.

Racist fools.

Jenrick as Chancellor!?

Anyone else reminded of Blackadder trying to teach Baldrick simple addition using beans..?
February 17, 2026 at 12:08 PM
Wait!? What?

I’m a white British bloke born to white British parents in Britain.

I served for over two decades in HM Armed Forces and never once professed to be a Christian.

Since leaving the military I’ve worked continuously in the NHS.

Am I still not quite British enough?

As a UK observer of US politics, my gast was flabbered when he was elected.

When he returned a second time I knew the American dream had died.

But the good news is that the 250 year lease expires in a few months and we’ll send some lads in red jackets to restore order… 😉
February 16, 2026 at 10:32 PM
Oh look: racism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny…

I guess it must be ReformUK.

The far-right extremists who want to deny everyone their human rights by leaving ECHR and repealing the HRA.

This isn’t just fascism. This is S&M fascism.
February 16, 2026 at 10:27 PM
Not all bad news then.
February 16, 2026 at 10:16 PM
Those halcyon days of 1971.

Life expectancy ten years less than now.
Mass unemployment.
A 47 day postal strike.
The Heath government undermining Unions.
Internment without trial in Northern Ireland and an escalation of violence.
Immigration Act.

Sounds like Hannah’s wet dream!

That was aimed at you Rick, rather than the gentlemen you parrot.

Saying stuff on a podcast doesn’t make it true. What secondary sources did you explore before repeating that nonsense..?
