21 so far days crafting an ECS custom engine! 🔨

Currently have:

💓 Core ECS systems.
⚙️ Transform, Sprite, Animation, Rigidbody components/systems.
📝 Basic Assets Manager & Logger.
🗺️ Loading tilemaps from LDtk format.

Some months ago, I completed the 2D Physics Engine in C++ course by @pikuma.com (video below!)

Now, it's time to start the 2D Game Engine in C++ course! I'm excited to learn some game engine architecture and build a little project meanwhile 🤓

So, a visual example here. You destroy a tree, the tree spawns a zombie. You kill a zombie... it turns back into a tree 🌲

And building that behaviour took me like 15 seconds with the tool (screenshot and explanation on next post 👇)

Advancing with the roguelike proto, now I have a super cool components system to play with!

I.e: create trees that when die drops wood. Or have an enemy turn into a tree when dies. Or trees that drop enemies when hitted 🪄

And all this just from the Unity inspector! (technical nerd info down 🤓⬇️).

I've been playing lots of Caves of Qud lately, so it was impossible to resist the URGE to prototype a little roguelike system this holidays 🫣

It's made on Unity, full MVP so super easy to tweak and add UI, nice visuals or even change the engine. Let's see how far I can reach until next year! 🙌
