If you like Butler, you like at least some science fiction. And I think you'd find a lot more contemporary SF authors citing Butler as an influence than Niven & Pournelle

I struggle to imagine anyone who has been pregnant recently objecting to "pregnant people" when there is so much more alienating language used regularly during the course of pregnancy. Looking in particular at the various medical providers who asked me if I had a "normal" birth

2. Siege of Burning Grass by Premee Mohamed. Enjoyed this one! Lots of interesting stuff in there though the ending didn't quite land for me

1. Baby Schema by Isabel Galleymore. I never feel qualified to assess poetry, so I won't. But I suspect I'll read more than usual this year now that I have started reading it on my phone as an alternative to mindless scrolling
