Good Country People is both horrific and incredibly funny. Though others I recommended it to were horrified of what I saw as its comedic elements.

I’ll let you off for the avatar.
I never laughed so much at a film as I did during The Jerk.

Ps Ha!Ha!Ha! Is genius. One of the great overlooked albums.
Pps. On Systems Of Romance the band is sans exclamation mark. It’s still great.

True story.
I taught twins in a second year class and they told me their mum’s favourite band.
Parents’ Night.
Me: the twins told me you were a big Ultravox fan.
Mum (red-faced, horrified): I hope they told you it was the John Foxx version!
Me: They did.
Mum: (huge sigh of relief)

Someone should have punched his face. Andrew Loog Oldham rip-off with crap lyrics.
And their other hit? Sonnet. Which isn’t a Sonnet and has even worse lyrics.
Britpop had some utter chancers. Lurch Ashcroft was chief among them.

FOC is a genius. Second only to Faulkner.

The Beginning Of The End is sublime!

It’s quite an oversight then.
I loved the film.

He’s British Army, not IRA.

Bonus!

Greatest band ever.
Though I also prefer HOTH, III and PG.
Probably due to overfamiliarity with IV.

Frog-faced, weavy-headed piece of shit.
I live in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and can attest that this fascist buffoon is talking utter cockwater.

The album, now minus Big Fat Mamafor some reason is on Spotify.

Saw them 15 years ago in tiny venue in Glasgow, (The Captain’s Rest, alas no longer there). Mind-blowing, and what a guitarist Dave Heumann is.

Glasgow is a great city. My favourite place to be and the people are great.
Edinburgh is beautiful but you’ll have a better time in Glasgow. And it’s much more of a gig-going city.
November 7, 2025 at 2:01 AM
I’ve not listened to them since.
November 6, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Both gigs were in Glasgow!
