Seeing a collection like this at the thrift you just know that someone made every person they know very heartfelt cards for every occasion 💕

Maybe it's personal growth, maybe it's overwhelm, maybe it's a lesser evil amidst mounting global tension and political turmoil, but I am now able to allow magnetic tile brands to intermix in my household (and I no longer store them as complete, separate sets 😅). Progress? I'll choose to think so!

The cardboard hack for narrow hems but using the Pokemon box from my son's Happy Meal 😆

I found with this slippery fabric at least I still had to press the planned seam for it to feed through properly, but this saved some of my sanity. Hoping that gathering hides the less aesthetic bits 🤞🏻

Sewing a narrow hem on 138 inches of taffeta: this is my super bowl 😆.

First time using the ban-rol method and it worked out nicely! I haven't removed it yet in this video but it pulls out cleanly after hemming.

I'm mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted but I was finally able to rally enough to cut the contrast ruffle for my dress. I chose this lovely 3D floral organza and it'll take quite a bit more rallying to be ready to hem and gather it, but it did feel nice to have hands on something pretty.

These stitching lines... Can't wait until I'm in the middle of the process and this hopefully starts to make sense 😅

My sometimes elusive bitty kitty, a refined senior lady, seemed to know I needed a little extra love this week. Purrs make everything better, at least for a while!

An unexpected sewing tool I'm enjoying: erasable colored pencils. These Crayola ones erase very thoroughly but still have a nice vibrancy for my pattern tracing 🙌🏻

PSA about gel window clings 😑. This was after less than 24 hours of sitting on the table. Taking this as a sign that I need to step up my efforts to lessen our dependence upon plastics!

By way of intro for those who don't know me from IG (my account there is sewingweather), here's the short 2024 wrap-up I had posted of my sewing projects. I've already started on two big '25 goals: the formal dress as well as pattern testing. I'm excited to see what everyone is working on this year!

For everyone in marginalized communities who has been left reeling after this past week: you are seen, you are loved, you matter.

Just some thoughts I had while working on my project. Also, I've been using my pattern tracing wheel like a hera marker and it's been so helpful. That is all ☮️💙

Really was not thinking of my mental health when I chose a pattern that calls for 10 yards of tulle. But I shall persevere.
