I think they are probably darker than you imagine, a lot are being described at the moment and I suspect a lot are undescribed in Africa, South America and on islands. Here's an example doi.org/10.1016/j.ij...

It came up with Fungus Gnats for me, but I would prefer to live on a warm blooded creature like one of the Hippoboscidae (a taxon which is probably so dark that the quiz maker had never heard of them)!

Some stuff I learned today at #Ento25:

1. Honeybee threats to native pollinators were already known about 89 years ago in the US.
2. There is a louse fly on Nightjars, recently newly recorded in the UK.
3. Ladybirds rock (okay, I already knew that!).
