The art déco exhibition, celebrating 100 years since the Exposition Internationale that launched the movement, was too busy (crowds of people in the very narrow spaces of the Musée des Arts Déciratifs (MAD…) to be truly enjoyable, but there are some gorgeous pieces on display… #ArtDéco #MADParis

I’m off to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées to hear Seong-Jin Cho in Beethoven, Liszt, Bartók and Chopin. I love the theatre, which is gorgeous, but there were very few tickets left, so I’m sitting on a fold-out chair. We’ll see if I last until the end... #LiveMusic

Pretty underwhelmed with my visit to Notre Dame de Paris this morning. No atmosphere at all, I thought, as if the magic has been (literally?) whitewashed out of the building. #cathedral

Unexpectedly, I’m off to the opera tonight: the dress rehearsal for Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi. I don’t know it well, so this will be good prep, because I already have a ticket for a regular performance in a few weeks’ time. #LiveTheatre #opera #Bellini #DNO

I’m a bit early for my concert, so I finally managed to get a seat in one of the fancy pews. They’re raised above the rabble down on the ordinary benches (there’s nothing egalitarian about these churches), which is great, but the benches are still HARD. 😳

A few years ago at the Royal Opera in Versailles the house manager walked on stage after the interval to demonstrate the difference between coughing straight into the auditorium and coughing into your hand and down. I think we’ve reached the point where most audiences need that demo… 🙄
