I am just a average person who lives an average life in the average suburb of Aurora, Colorado.
This is our puppy, Maya. She is a year old now. She knows she is allowed to lick and play rough with everyone except Grandma. She will come up to me within an inch of my face and just look at me. Her restraint is amazing. She adds so much joy to the house!

Our male cat has decided that his meowing echoes very nicely during the nights when everyone else is asleep in bed. He roams the house singing at the top of his lungs. Doesn't bother me, I sleep on and off anyway. Doesn't bother my daughter who has a wave machine. My granddaughter wants to kill him!

To add comic relief to our household we have 4 (yes, 4!) cats and a dog. 3 of the cats are female and are my daughter's cats. The other one is an old tom who walked into my granddaughter & hubbies life. Luckily he is a big old laid back softie. And Maya is year old crazy puppy.

Another thing that is happening spontaneously is that the household chores are slowly being divided among all of us. The kids, myself, and my daughter are all responsible for our own private areas. The common areas and chores like dishes and garbage are being taken care of by all. Divided equally.

Each of us has a different work schedule. My daughter works from home. My granddaughter is an elder caretaker and works different hours and different shifts each day. My grandson-in-law works 4 days a week delivering packages. And I, of course, being retired, can do anything I want whenever I want!

Last weekend my son and grandson visited to help celebrate my 80th. Food was eaten, games were played, and laughter was shared. My grandson just started teaching 2nd grade in a new school. Parents are telling him that the kids want to come to school even when there is a day off. SO PROUD of him.

I'm am so blessed that I am able to be in the midst of my family while I age. My daughter, granddaughter and her hubby purchased a home large enough for all of us to live together but have our own space. We've been here for almost a year now and the rhythm of our lives has developed beautifully!

Musings about turning 80!
My warranty has run out. I neglected my maintenance for many years and it now has come to fruition. I had always joked that I viewed my body as just something to tote my brain around. Not so funny now.

The other day at noon we had about 20 black birds descend on our backyard and start pecking away at the grass. We live in Aurora, Colorado. Does anybody know why that happened? Is there a cicada-like insect that emerged from the ground that day?

My 24 year old grandson, Zach, is coming out of a health crisis that sidelined him for several years. During his recovery he has started writing poetry. He shared this with me this morning.
