3rd wave open source, vipassana, chai, fixies, other stuff.
also these transparencies that give me instant headaches appear to keep my 16" intel mbp on the amd video card more or less nonstop, leading to <3hrs battery life.

awesome.

feels like yesterday

but that's probably because the last 3 decades could have happened in the last 3 weeks at the current pace.

yeah, i think if this thing were java or something else sane, that might make the distinction less significant. for better or worse, rails loves its magic and i don't want to rely on manually-created uuids in namespaces i don't control.

yeah. stuff like this:

`create_table "active_storage_variant_records", id: { type: :string, limit: 36, default: -> { "lower(hex(randomblob(16)))" } }, force: :cascade do |t|`

...should have never made it into the repo. at least it never made it to production. 🫠 (not that any of this will, but.)

i did start with sqlite and that was the trouble. no native uuid support, which was starting to bite me.

10 minutes setting up postgres to begin with would have saved me an hour or two of sanity-checking my switch to postgres today. just not worth it.

ugh. that's a readme. it would take less time to load a movie from disk. should i make a rule that people aren't allowed to bookmark github links

how does nc talk compare to mattermost and rocketchat in terms of ux/snappiness?

i have to go read up on open cloud mesh now.

ok, someone *recommending* a nextcloud product wasn’t on my bingo card for 2026… much less nextcloud talk.

i’ve been so happy with meet.gnome.org i’ve contemplated hosting bbb myself… but their distribution is very jank (all-in-one appliance, ubuntu-only).
