Yesterday, Commissioner @shawnlatur.bsky.social announced the availability of a new online tool to help residents, local governments, nonprofit organizations & businesses easily identify funding opportunities for projects that mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, reduce costs, and improve air quality.

5/ The month ended with most of north Jersey categorized on the US Drought Monitor as being Abnormally Dry or in Moderate Drought, and October 1st found the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (@dep.nj.gov) declaring a Drought Watch across the entire state.

No other area in North Jersey has the large unfragmented forests needed to preserve populations of endangered hawks, owls, and increasingly rare songbirds. Fish & Wildlife volunteers perform hawk counts from August 15 to November 15, and again in the spring from February 15 to May 15. (5/5)
