A lot of the time, we make the calls that mean we can live with ourselves.
Gestures are rarely pointless - when people feel like no one cares, seeing someone make a stand can be a reminder that people do care.

But perhaps the more likely risk is just its then another piece of government run tech infrastructure that might fail. And if you don’t trust the government to be competent and put time and money into maintaining it, that failure becomes more likely.

Im not sure i agree with that. Having a virtual killswitch that could theoretically target individual cars instantly is a bit different to having to deploy many squad cars with spike strips.
It’s also not just authoritarianism - it then represents an infrastructure target for external parties.

The point i would make is not that just because there is “a” risk - its clear we are talking about risk vs. reward, with magnitude of risk as a product of likelihood and potential severity of consequences.
So what i was asking was what the OP/community thought about the magnitude of risk was here

Sincere question as someone who is sympathetic to electronically limiting cars ti the speed limit - any concern that the technological infrastructure could be misused by the government e.g. remotely immobilising people’s cars
