Added a bunch of people to the Philly sports reporters Starter Pack.

People are joining pretty quickly so I've undoubtedly missed a bunch, so just @ me with anybody that should be added to the list.

Sure sounds like VJ Edgecombe could start.

"Tyrese and VJ look very good, and very comfortable, out there doing both things [playing on and off ball]. We were hoping that was the case, but it looked to me well-advanced."

"I think Tyrese showed that he needs to be off the ball some."

Paul George continues to do individual workouts. The team says that those have increased in intensity and he should be integrated in team activities in the coming days.

Trendon Watford (hamstring) remains out for Friday's game.

Joel Embiid practiced today, has increased his participation and did some 5-on-5. He is being evaluated daily and the team says he still has some boxes to check before he is cleared for playing in games.

Ay! Good for Kate and a great decision by the USA Network.

I had no doubt the LeBron decision was going to be an ad, and yet it still somehow came out cornier than expected.

What should you take away from the Sixers' first two preseason games?

Are they ever going to make a shot from the perimeter?

Going live at 3.

An incredibly frustrating 24 hours for Philadelphia offenses.

As I sit here and watch Matt Stairs rip one into the night over and over and over again this morning, it reminds me how many great sports memories we have that came at the expense of the Dodgers.

Today feels like a great day to start building new memories.

The Sixers played basketball!

It wasn't great. It wasn't even good. But it was basketball. And VJ Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey did some fun stuff.

Talking about it at 3 pm.

The Sixers have attempted at least 29 threes in a game 572 times, per @stathead.

They made at least 5 threes in 571 out of those 572 games, with the worst being a 4-31 performance during the 2015-16 season.

They're currently 2-29 from 3.

A quick rundown of how Quentin Grimes accepting the qualifying offer impacts the Sixers.

Everything from the no-trade clause to Bird rights, being under the aprons and ducking the tax.

Here is the Sixers' updated cap situation following Quentin Grimes accepting the $8.7m qualifying offer.

The downside is it makes it harder for the Sixers to duck the tax at the trade deadline, and the Sixers being unwilling to offer a balloon tells you what their priorities were here.

And I'm really getting sick of talking about this every year.
derekbodner.bsky.social
A 1-year, $14 million "balloon" payment is better for the Sixers than the QO in just about every way.
- Gets Grimes to waive his no-trade.
- Makes his non-Bird rights more helpful to a team that wants to trade for him.
- Boosts his trade value.

But there's one downside...
derekbodner.bsky.social
Outside of a massive overpay, this is the worst case scenario for the Sixers.

Besides being an unrestricted free agent next summer, the no-trade clause is a massive deal for a team that has so few tradeable assets (and little matchable salary).
shamsbot.bsky.social
Restricted free agent Quentin Grimes is signing a one-year, $8.7 million qualifying offer to return to the Philadelphia 76ers, agent David Bauman told ESPN. Grimes will now hold an inherent no-trade clause and enter a more flush market in unrestricted free agency next summer.

"I see a competitor, man. I see someone who really, really likes to compete. He has a skillset that a lot of people could have, but done have, which is playing extremely hard on both ends of the court."

And then there was one ...

Through negotiations between Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Turner from July to September, Golden State ultimately increased its offer by a total of $8M in the two-year framework and guaranteed Kuminga approximately $15M more than his qualifying offer would have for this season.
shamsbot.bsky.social
Breaking: Ending a summer-long stalemate, Jonathan Kuminga has agreed to a two-year, $48.5 million contract to return to the Golden State Warriors, agent Aaron Turner told ESPN. The deal has a team option designed for the contract to be ripped up and renegotiated next summer.
