Beyoncé took a HUUUGGGGEEEE risk. This album could have been a MESS. She switched genres drastically. That doesn’t normally work for people. But, she was able to provide an excellent album with a well thought out concept that WORKED. That’s what she’s being rewarded on. Ok, now I’m done.

ANOTHER THING: don’t get it twisted: I LOVE Billie, Charli, Sabrina, Chappel, and Taylor! I haven’t listened to Andre 3000’s album, but I’m sure I’d like that, too! The difference, though, is that for these artists, most of what they brought was standard. Excellent, but standard.

Sorry, but I’m not going to take the opinions of people who grew up in the suburbs or, even worse, someone who grew up somewhere other than the south, on what “real” country is and isn’t seriously.

She was co-signed by Dolly, Willie, and Linda Martell! She featured black country artists that make the music that most mainstream country fans listen to and enjoy! And y’all want to still sit here and tell me she’s not “real” country? Don’t piss me off.

Beyoncé grew up in HOUSTON. TEXAS. Country culture is baked into the very DNA of this city. You can be in the most modern, populated area of Houston and still see people riding their horses or taking care of animals. Everyone’s at least a little bit country in Houston.

Y’all can bump Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan and all these other mainstream country artists who tend to mix genres, but as soon as Beyoncé does it, she “doesn’t know what it means to be country” and “doesn’t belong… interesting.

As someone who has been bullied their entire life for one thing or another, I know the harmful effects bullying can have.
