He/him. Rude mechanical. Award losing maker of things. Social impact tech director. Fan of guillotines. Settler Canadian living on the ancestral homelands and traditional territory of the Attawandaron, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples (Guelph, ON).
We’re technically foreign as well and should’ve also been blessed with the non-US editions. 😅

It kinda has the Japanese edition vibes.

Yeah. It is definitely good for flipping through with a hot beverage. There’s a comment on the Itch page from a month ago suggesting she might be doing another print run. Would be cool to get the additional expanded stuff in print as well.

Yeah. I think it started life with Zine Quest 2. Maybe? I grabbed a bunch of weird slice of life RPGs during zq2.

Because we’re childishly immature humans? 😅

I'd be happy if they were just on a streaming service. I would absolutely go sit in my local art house theatre for a full day just watching Oshii films, though. That'd be great.

It's been a very long time since I've last watched the movies, but I loved Patlabor way back when. Maybe I should give em a rewatch.

The “sequel” episode “Jose Chung’s Doomsday Defence” from Millennium season 2 is also top shelf. "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster" from season 10 with Rhys Darby might be my pick for best episode of television ever.

- The Rouse by China Miéville.
- Exit Party by Emily St. John Mandel.

Ending 2025 with Robin Wall Kimmerer’s “The Serviceberry”. It is anti-capitalist through and through. But it’s full of actionable hope. It’s like the relaxed/meditative feeling you get from going bird watching. But in book form. Two thumbs up. Also, Saskatoon Berry Crisp is the literal best dessert.

I don’t know how to talk about this book without spoiling literally anything. It works so well as horror because of everything it uses to contrast said horror. It’s real good and real short and real powerful. Two thumbs up.

I don’t have words for this one [Mike said “soul-gutting (for all the right reasons)” which is the most emotionally accurate review]. It’s been on my shelf for months and @monteiro.bsky.social recently posted about it which reminded me to read it. So I did. You should read it as well.

Two oven-roasted thumbs up. “Using the metaphor of literal state-sponsored cannibalism, [it] is about the horrors of capitalism, and how ignoring the savagery of our current system just leads to more viciousness. […] a potent gut punch.” <<< yup.
