I try to support ethical farming practices wherever possible, and I direct the balance of my will and efforts to helping improve the lives of fellow humans in my community and around the world. That's enough for me.

I get the point (and even necessity, to some) of examining one's own personal ethics with such a fine-toothed comb. For me personally, I'm perfectly comfortable with some level of cognitive dissonance regarding how I would prefer all animals be treated and the current state of the food industry.

I think it's very telling that it's always vegans bringing up hypotheticals involving human enslavement.

I'm a human. Call me sentimental, but I support the dignity and personhood of my fellow humans. It's not anything special about humans, but I feel a kinship to any human that I don't with animals. Maybe simple tribalistic thinking. It's not important enough to analyze though, honestly.

Look man. I'm not gonna feel bad for food. It doesn't matter how sensationalized you make the issue. There are nearly 9 billion lives I'd place before theirs, and I don't particularly like a good number of them, no doubt.

I mean, yeah, if you want to; go ahead, I guess. It's probably really shitty meat, though. And if you're the type of person to keep bacon as a pet, then maybe you don't deserve companionship.
