In Derry the sun will set today at 4pm. Same as yesterday. We no longer lose any more daylight in the evenings. And we start to gain daylight in the afternoon again next Wednesday, five days before the winter solstice - grianstad an gheimhridh. Happy friday.

Derry man Robert Boyd was executed by firing squad on December 11, 1831, after a failed rising in Málaga. He wrote to his brother William: "Mark you that I die like a gentleman and a soldier – I am to be shot with sixty others in about an hour." www.derryjournal.com/heritage-and...

On this day in 1831 Derry man Robert Boyd was taken out in the morning and executed on the beach of San Andrés. There are monuments, memorials and streets named after this 'héroe romántico' in Málaga city to this day. This is his grave in the Cementerio Inglés de Málaga.
