You mean capitalism and the way people have been trained to think about value. Again all of these things can be legislated against it just takes time and people who actually want to change. Giving someone more money does not stop greed its tracks.

The assumption that bribery “could” happen based upon the system you think of today, is no reason to not enact change. I think it’s wildly strange that somehow our politicians have to have more money than the majority of our citizens in order to not be greedy. The curse of capitalism.

I would assume like any other employer travel would be a government expense for civil servants traveling for work reasons.

It shouldn’t be viewed penalize. They can absolutely go back to earning over what they subject the average worker to. After serving their time. I currently reside in a six figure family. I would happily make minimum wage to work in a job I can make actual change in for majority of American citizens.
