I feel the pivotal moment was the experts dismissing his Thai cave rescue scheme. This showed him it was not guaranteed the public would like his ideas, and that he didn't need them anyway because he could still delight 10000s of sycophants. They even loved him calling the real rescuer "pedo guy".

I can tell this is a conservative by his sneering tone but I would think both of these two groups of things would be disliked by conservatives so I don't know whether he's happy or sad or whether Yookay is good or bad

Absolutely. They voted against premiums skyrocketing. Tried to prevent it with the shutdown. The shutdown got "blamed" on Repubs because the Dem demands were so reasonable. They had to give in after 6 weeks because of SNAP/Fed employees/holiday travel. That's the narrative and it's almost 100% true

I still think this had a big effect in 2024. A lot of male influencers are pro athletes, who mostly A) don't know anything about politics B) don't have any issues they care about C) are very confident in their beliefs. A lot of them were very upset about this hot-button sports-related issue.

"Race science" was the consensus a few scientific generations ago, due to extrapolating from Darwinism and the desire to rationalize the racial hierarchy in society. Then gradually, as data accumulated, it became obsolete. Do these guys really not realize that?

This account was a "satire" blog like 15-25 years ago (smug parody of judgmental church ladies). Like Andy Borowitz for really smug people. Then I didn't hear about it for years and years. Then on bluesky suddenly it's everywhere again, now as a George Takei Facebook account for really smug people.

To be fair it wasn't helped by the famous lifelong Democrat next door running a high-profile "campaign" for "mayor" on the premise that Democrats have gone crazy and you shouldn't vote for them anymore

Jesse Singal did it for a while. I saw his stuff as reasonable and all other anti-trans stuff as not. But it flipped one day as I realized "hey if he's an honest commentator he should occasionally also be writing about other stuff, not 100% this. What's the deal"
