So pleased to be part of this epic exploration of destape-era Spanish exploitation - a wild, under-explored era of no-holds-barred sleazy cinema crossed with arthouse ideas. I do commentaries on three titles here that I think sum up the era's mad vibe, mixing gore, sex, politics and experimentalism.

That's a different can design to the one I bought in Spain the other week. Lemon Fanta had another horror character, one that I was unfamiliar with but probably from one of those franchises the young people enjoy.

And I've become very tired of wholesale invention of facts, characters, etc in biopix being seen as acceptable without any acknowledgement that this is a work of fiction, one designed to fit an agenda, a belief or commercial considerations.

Beyond all that, I thought it was an awful, shoddy show.

As you say, this is going to be the version of the Gein story that most people see and the myth will become established as fact. But the whole thing feels fraudulent, stretched - I mean, 8 episodes and lengthy lip-smacking Nazi fantasies feels like extreme padding even by Netflix standards...
desperate-living.bsky.social
I watched the first episode of this and gave up. I know a thing or two about the Gein case and the immediate fictionalising of events, invention of characters and the curious inference that it was the comics wot made 'im do it felt rather offensive.
desperate-living.bsky.social
We've watched (English language) documentaries on Netflix with (English) subtitles, where what appears on screen is different to what is being said... sometimes actually changing the context and meaning. Pure laziness from companies that could easily afford to hire actual humans to subtitle work.

Maybe best to hang on for a better copy.

Sounds worth the price. Though you didn't mention the condition.

From the high seas to the high street - the Fighting Furies were some of the most impressive action figures of the 1970s, combining button-controlled sword fighting, extravagant costumes and a unique look. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EawJ...

It certainly doesn't remotely smack of desperation to justify a system that can't be justified.

As for the rest of this: I'm calling bullshit on most of these claims. They have a whiff of the infamous 'video violence and children' report from the video nasty days (where kids claimed to have seen non-existent films), while claims of 'porn addiction' should be taken with an entire block of salt.

Incredible, isn't it? I'd predicted that this would happen, but I'd figured that they would wait six months or so before trotting out the 'loophole' nonsense.

Given that this was slapped with the YouTube X-rating, I've followed the grand tradition of American movie making by doing an R (or PG-13) edit. The unrated version remains available but people who can't/won't sign in to YT can now watch it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFtv...

Think of glamour girls of the 50s and 60s, and you might think of Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Mamie Van Doren or Diana Dors. But there was another household name of the era, now all but forgotten - Sabrina. www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8vd...

Whoopee, we poor UK residents now have to start verifying our age to do all sorts of things online - including read messages on this site. Scammers and hackers must be over the moon.

'Moron' does seem unfair when 'clueless fuckwit' is available.

YouTube has seen fit to place both age restrictions and limited advertising on this, after previously declaring it OK. I wonder what might have changed their mind? Anyway, if you want to encourage us to do more of this sort of thing, maybe consider supporting us via Patreon or Buy Me a Coffee...
