Just not one with a five speed Hub gear (SA).

Chest infection stopping me riding at the moment. Treatment tomorrow postponed as a result as well. Looking forward to the next bike commute still come hell or high water. I won't do black ice or silly winds any more though.

Ten years ago I was travelling to China several times a year for work. Eventually had enough and negotiated to opt out of regular trips, devolving to local agents.

Ironically most of my flights and driving are all to do with getting to cycling events. Wish the UK /European railway system was cheaper, easier, and more accommodating towards cycles. Car mileage is <2000 m/pa and only one set of flights this year. Minimal meat in diet. We have two cats though.

Never had C2W until I joined current company 2 years, ago. Have paid for all my bikes myself. March to October I us one of my race bikes, as it is just more enjoyable, extend the ride at either end of the commute. Winter full guards and panniers. I put down more commute miles on the race bikes.

Always wanted one of those spaceframe Moultons, more than a Brompton.

Fell down due to a land slide.

Nothing similar has happened recently in the USA due to seismic events www.cwmnews.com/california-h.... Or Italy due to poor construction (allegedly corruption) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponte_M....

First company Ive been at that has C2W scheme, but I have no need of it at present. However in the past I have commuted to jobs 25 miles each way through the Chilterns. I wouldn't have done that on a typical commuting bike. I am aware it's an outlier, but no less valid because of it.

Err they're not.

Not use Strava, heresy!

As for being the club's position, that is extrapolating a bit. IIRC Adam Tranter started racing with the Solihull, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't share that viewpoint.
November 5, 2025 at 5:37 PM
I've raced for 40+ years and still don't get this attitude. Yes as racing cyclists we are probably more akin to a moped speed in traffic, and confident enough to take primary on urban roads etc. But we are not who the infra is aimed at. Everyone should be able to ride safely.

One of the reasons Eurostar is such a monumental pain, especially if you want to take a bike.
November 3, 2025 at 1:11 PM
Large particulates from tyre, brake and road wear? Taking up more road space still adding to congestion...
November 3, 2025 at 12:41 PM
Yep, wear one when I race /train. Rarely at other times. Ironically the the only concussion I ever had was caused by the helmet snagging on the asphalt as I rolled in a unplanned dismount, and got a rotational head injury.

Opening was meant to be "Not bad numbers"
October 29, 2025 at 1:06 PM
, or bad numbers for the commute Will. I rarely, even when properly training, broke 200W for my urban commute.
October 29, 2025 at 1:06 PM
You haven't addressed the additional wear and tear on the road surface.

Like the Roman Republic, that the US likes to base its political institutions on, are they ending up with an Emperor instead?

And Mercedes saloons (sedans?) used to be considered a large car in UK and Europe!

My Builder asked last year if I'd like some honey, then turned up with a frame of honeycomb. Extracted the honey and was enough to last all winter. Fantastic.

How easy is it to travel with full sized bikes on those services, as opposed to France or UK?

At worst she received poor legal advice from the legal team she employed. That's not 2 tier justice.
