One way I've practiced this is through my abstract Puerto Rican landscapes. They've helped me look at things differently, or more so, helped me communicate what I'm seeing & experiencing. My auditory-tactile synesthesia also contributes.

🧵 One of my goals coming into this year was to insert more looseness into my work, to allow muscle weakness and spasms and exhaustion to become part of my art instead of fighting against it.

It's a personal embracing, but it's also an unintended protest against generative AI, which can't do this.

In the haze of chronic illness cognitive dysfunction & crip time, the girls will occasionally take advantage & over the course of a few weeks will trick me into feeding them way too often. So then I have to trick them back & reverse it.

It’s a hilarious ongoing battle. They think they're hobbits.

“Hedge of protection” is such a specific phrase I grew up hearing and it is so unsettling to hear it in this context. Like there genuinely was a point in my life where I was so relieved to never have to hear phrases like that one again. But here we are.

SOAR had a 65% approval rate for benefits applicants, those specifically experiencing homelessness and/or substance abuse. Those among the most vulnerable and who need assistance the most.

Disabled people experience homelessness in the US at 2.5x the overall pop. I sent so many folks to SOAR.

I actually feel like I've just been punched in the gut, I'm in tears. Despite my being homeless at the time I didn't use SOAR for my initial disability application (I didn't know about it), but I know people who did. This was an incredible program, SO effective.
