Honestly. I have a bus stop right outside my place. People waiting literally stand in my driveway. Sometimes I have to politely ask them to move.
But I use the bus most days, it is awesome and I love it.

I'm not necessarily agreeing with you here. I could have done with a little anthropology, sociology or something in my first job as a policy advisor, along with the data analysis skills I was hired for.

Mine certainly didn't. Gen ed requirements seem to be a thing peculiar to North American universities.

I'd guess it was the sort of "sit in the office and push the big red button if anything goes wrong" type of job they give engineering students for work experience.
