My friend lives up in Ely, MN. She told me recently the majority of people up there are cheering this shit on. All of it. I take it they've deluded themselves into thinking it it won't affect them, but the damage always hits faster and takes longer to heal in rural communities. They'll find out soon

Maybe do that for both parties. I want to see the establishment ripped out root and stem. I want to see every career politician ousted in their primary in favor or someone like Zohran Makdani, or AOC, or Jasmine Crockett. I want to see Chuck Schumer forced to retire in disgrace by his constituents.

Except this is exactly the problem. We need candidates who's first priority is serving the best interests of their constituents, not holding onto power. If they aren't putting their voters before themselves, they shouldn't be in politics. Fetterman cares about power. He's a liar and an opportunist.

The boomers I'm referring to are the ones in congress who've been enriching themselves at our expense for generations. But to be frank, that red wave in the 80s changed a lot of that generation's views, and given that, it's not surprising so many of them wanted this.

Trust me there are already plenty of people in Philadelphia's activist community who are far more qualified than me, who are planning to run for office. The hope, at this point, is we can unseat Fetterman when his time comes, but that'll require Pennsyltucky coming to Jesus.

so that we can get rid of the fossils who are ruining us. If you want real change you have to fight for it, but too often I see people unwilling to get off their couches and do something, and that's how we arrived here, in a bleak hellscape from which there is no convenient escape. 5/5

make it will inevitably lead to the worse of those options seizing power. If we want that brighter future, everyone needs to get out and vote. Everyone needs to engage, even if it isn't everything you ever dreamed of on the ballot, and we need more and better candidates in the primaries 4/5

Now mind you, I've been waiting for over a decade for the boomers to die already so we can collectively move on, but at the same time I see young people totally disengaging, refusing to vote at all, because they have forgotten or never internalized that when you have a binary choice, refusing to 3/5

utter apathy and the consequences for everyone are steep. Under democratic leadership none of this was happening. No, we didn't get real progress, but at least our lives weren't actively being destroyed by the worst and the richest of us. 2/5

Look around you. Under GOP leadership, racial profiling is abruptly legal and shattering families everywhere. Food stamps become a bargaining chip against decimating publicly funded healthcare. Grocery prices are surging. There are no longer checks on the power of the executive. We are ruled by 1/5

We need people who aren't willing to shake hands with corporate lobbyists and then vote against the interests of the people they claim to represent. Until we oust the clingers on and bring in morally sound, compassionate and strong people, we're going to see more disappointment and disgrace.

This is just as unpalatable though. Calling it by its name, they chose to safeguard their reelection potential instead of protecting their constituents. The Chuck Schumers and Adam Schiffs in congress have a singular objective, and that's holding onto power. We need young, energized leaders. 1/2

I'm of the understanding this is how most of the world views our politics. We don't have a progressive party. We have a moderately conservative party, and one filled with self righteous psychopaths.
What we need are more people who comprehend leadership is not a right, it's a privilege.
