ok so I was going to reply with a message about how this is due to the way esm.sh resolves dependency versions to URLs at first request time, but it turns out that actually changed at the end of last year and this all just works perfectly now!

Spent a bit of time today maintaining the web-worker package, which brings the web's Worker API to Node:

It now supports importScripts() and works in more bundlers + Node versions.

Preact Signals just got a huge performance boost:
Signals rendered as text/props & effects only "pull" as fast as needed for rendering. Since computeds run as-needed, they now only re-run as often as their downstream DOM output can be painted.

to illustrate, here is the original code (prior to your changes) minimally refactored to use signals. It has the same performance characteristics as your improved version without requiring split components.
