You have to pay taxes on an EEOC settlement too unless it was for disability. I did taxes for a woman who won a small settlement after demonstrating 25 years of discrimination on the basis of race in the government position, and I had to break the news to her that she had to pay taxes on it.

Looks like there's an exception for settlements related to physical injury, but not IP theft. I kind of thought there might be one for this too 🤷

Oh, man. After reading the article, what it actually says is that an historian did a lot of archival work and spatial research to determine the site of a killing and then the family of the likely perpetrator stepped forward with photographs to confirm identity.

My gifted school program just meant that when all students attended the same assembly, only the GATE kids had to write an essay about it. Someone gave me a statistics book in 5th grade but never taught me how to use it so I ended up covered in some kind of ADHD mould in my closet. Still annoyed.
