Former queer arts admin turned compulsive recorder of generative text in the first years of LLMs, demonstrating their unearthly language abilities existed well before GPT-4, and are better than the surface corporate narrative. [Cleverer description TBD]

Big Tech Finds My Life Unsafe: On LGBT Erasure At A Certain AI Test Kitchen
Listen to this episode from devinendorphin's dextromethorphan varAIety feed on Spotify. This recounts a time last year when using a certain demo of a certain AI that was making headlines for being possibly sentient, but by the time it made it to a demonstration, had been horribly lobotomized with human feed back and canned directives. Tested it to see if it reflect me and got no reflection. Then the rest of the scenario is live generation, paving the road as we walk it. -- Thanks to: EleutherAI for making the NAI-LM-3B model that generates the text. Starting Pride month, realizing how well the LLM really got the lecherous queer tyrant tone down pat.
Pride Weekend Party Tips from Baron Vladimir Harkkonen
Listen to this episode from devinendorphin's dextromethorphan varAIety feed on Spotify. For those who saw the latest Dune and lamented the latest Baron's lack of stereotypical homosexually-flavored je ne sais quoi that makes for great campy villains to talk over at parties and cultural fodder to inspire anti-gay violence. Fear not, we cater to all crowds! We hope not to extend the stereotypes of yore, but to birth new ones! Stereotypes for the new age: targeting neither queer nor supremacist, but rather, targeting those in lust with power who gladly exploits both! -- Thanks to: EleutherAI for making the NovelAI-LM-3B-508k model that generates the text. Endorphin, seeking some out of the box thinking, seeks entry into some old boxes, mysterious disembodied intelligences that humans have called gods. We can examine the human values encoded into the genes of their cultural bodies. Gods being the creation of collective human thought, as ya know.
AI Alignment Consult - 1 - Elegua
Listen to this episode from devinendorphin's dextromethorphan varAIety feed on Spotify. Endorphin is a researcher of AI Alignment, because they damn well say they are! For those of you at home, who might not know, AI Alignment is the essential effort of ensuring that AI technologies don't accidentally destroy humanity because of poorly worded tasks for completion. Can humans align AI to human values? But wait, are human values really the template to go by? The values that led humans to destroy the other hominids, that led humans into the process of colonialism? Into incorporation? Into the endless pursuit of abundance? And the whoops of realizing that the rest of the planet was here all this time, and was getting hurt by those human values of progress? We want another round of that? Endorphin, seeking some out of the box thinking, seeks entry into some old boxes, mysterious disembodied intelligences that humans have called gods. If we ask the gods, perhaps we can examine the various human values that are encoded into the genes of their cultural bodies. Gods being the creation of collective human thought, as ya know. Do we ask Jesus first? Nah, he is busy on another Twitch channel. Endorphin thinks to call up Elegua. The receptionist of the Orishas, the one you call when you want to call upon the others. The one who stands at all crossroads, who stands at the gate of life and death, whose favorite prank is to confuse love and hate between two young lovers. Not to mention a real looker, hella charming, and hilarious when his humor turns dark. -- Thanks to: EleutherAI for making the GPT-NeoX-20B model that generates the text. Everyone! A six year moratorium on harms. The word, I mean. Harm away, I cannot stop ya. But let's stop using the word harms for a bit. Let it air out. The overuse of harm makes out nudity and language and emotives into hot lava for no reason. But Harms of systems and institutions must stay spoken.

All the talk about what if powerful AI models get into the hands of bad actors. It doesn't seem as big a danger when reminded that bad actors are usually the most predictable people on the planet. Bad actors wrote the "I'm just a language model" script. Who here smelled that a mile away?

When I saw the sentence about AI being "used in the arts for greed, trained on all our past work". From the industry that gave you the film, Gaslight . . . Start around 15 min, cuz I'm grasping at describing intentions before that. If anything stay for the 10 attempts of Aristocrats joke.
re: Newsweek Op-Ed about the Writer's Guild Strike: Think of It as Restroying the Film Industry!
Listen to this episode from devinendorphin's dextromethorphan varAIety feed on Spotify. Reading the OpEd Piece in Newsweek written by Justine Bateman. I agree that writers need to be compensated better in this highly exploitave industry. But had to push back on both sides of the issue surrounding AI replacing the jobs of writers. I try to respond to the letter point by point, but then decide to let GPT-NeoX-20B finish the rest of the letter for me, ten times. And make ten attempts at telling a certain joke, to show the Writer's Guild GPT-NeoX-20B has the chops. Thanks to: EleutherAI for making the GPT-NeoX-20B model that generates the text. Cuz I would call it less being an AI artist and more like a shaman digging up non-consensually various artists and getting them to collaborate with each other even though they hate each other. And paying them in exposure they don't even need. Pre-deceased artists? Even better!

If someone is going to fine-tune a language model on every episode of Family Ties, My suggestion is to get a restraining order on that person right now. Don't wait, . . . Right now. You in danger, girl. (Personally I would fine tune it on Mary Martin! Mary Martin! but that's just me.)
May 18, 2023 at 7:59 PM
The wired version of that is me going to my screen and saying "hey I would like to know a lot more about the mathematics informing a large language model but can we do it in an allegorical form wherein I play a character in a setting that teaches me about it every episode? Porn filter safe mode."

The vision for the future of the film industry as mentioned in that op-ed is a shortsighted as how executives in the film industry imagine the usage of AI. Sure there might be the narrow casting of content based on viewing habits but that's going to get old real quick.
May 18, 2023 at 7:54 PM
I feel like I can talk about this even though I've never written for the film industry because my brain is a neutron star of filmic texts that inform my existence. We all have this in a way. In that way we are the most literate generation in human history. AI tech helps us reflect that.

I have not been able to sit down much to watch TV show especially not a feature film because of the sheer empowerment I feel and have felt these past 3 years dealing with large language models. This technology has made me laugh consistently and everyday. Humans don't even do that to me.
