A shocking amount of my childhood memories are cigarette-based.

Going to the cornerstore, as a kid, to buy Kool Milds for my granny.

Being bored in places and pulling the knobs on cigarette machines.

Candy cigarettes.

Grownups burst out in joy at receiving a carton of cigarettes.

Take me back!

How NOT to send a comic through the mail:

1. Do NOT pack and send it in a reused bubble mailing with someone else’s address label still attached to it.

2. Do NOT “reinforce” it with ONE flimsy piece of cardboard that doesn’t even cover the whole comic.

Me, going online after realizing that @chrissamnee.bsky.social stuck to his word from last October about it being his last Bat-ober. 🦇

Been reading a lot of Wonder Woman lately and just amazed at the art talent present throughout. Who’s on your Mt. Rushmore of WW artists?

Mine are: George Pérez, Cliff Chiang, Phil Jimenez and Adam Hughes.

Kinda excited for the new Fantastic Four film. Word is they finally got it right.

The Invisible Woman has always been my favorite FF character and I’ve been pretty fortunate to get some nice art of her from the likes of @jimlee.bsky.social, Ron Frenz and Mike Wieringo over the years.

Dared to enter the closet that is a tesseract and found my Gen 13 #1 signed by @jimlee.bsky.social, @jscottcampbell.bsky.social & @alexgarnerart.bsky.social.

Haven’t seen this in, easily, fifteen years.

Posted this four and a half years ago.

Since then he done Detective Comics starring Batman.

Did a three year sting on World’s Finest.

Currently the artist of Superman AND Justice League Unlimited.

Next up, the DC/Marvel crossover, Batman/Deadpool.

Dan Mora is the truth.

Just read the sad news that writer Peter David passed away.

I owe him a great debt as his Sin-Eater Saga in Spectacular Spider-Man inspired me to write.

I’d written before but somehow, his words stirred me to action. I’m eternally grateful.

Rest in peace and thank you.

Just read of the passing of one of my favorite artists, Jackson “Butch” Guice.

He had did of my favorite Superman runs and his work on Winter Soldier was extraordinary. He was always one of those guys who made it easier to buy a comic if his name was on it.

Rest in peace and thank you.

Went to Awesome Con last week and I’m honestly not dogging it out but some things need changing.

The bulk of the vendors there were folks selling prints. Prints of pop culture IP. Think that one movie frame from a Harry Potter movie but someone drew it. I know I’m not the target audience but..

I kinda need to start reading this stack of comics I got last week from @fantomcomics.bsky.social. 😮‍💨🥳

Tony Stark makes you feel.
He's a cool exec with a heart o' steel.
As Iron Man, all jets ablaze!
He's fightin' and smitin' with repulsor rays!
Amazin' armor! That's Iron Man!
A blazin' power! That's Iron Man!

I don’t buy much original art anymore due to cost and other interest but when you see a gorgeous @cullyhamner.bsky.social Question, you grab it.

Looking for a great read to take your mind off thing for a bit?

Check out @manruss.bsky.social and Peter Snejberg’s awesome “Cereal.”

A wonderfully told story of gothic horror and romance using America’s favorite cereal mascots.

One of the best stories I’ve read in a long while.

Can hardly believe it but the bulk of the comics I enjoyed and looked forward to in 2023 came from DC Comics. I liked other things from other publishers that aren’t shown. I will say there’s not a single one from Marvel.

Not a dig. Just a fact.

What doesn’t get talked about enough is that for the entirety of DC’s weekly comic, “52,” Keith Giffen did detailed breakdowns for each issue and illustrated an issue.

52 issues where he interpreted the words of Mark Waid, Grant Morrison, Geoff Johns & Greg Rucka for literally dozens of artists.
