This guy is an anti-Semitic crank with no power or influence, he sucks, purge him, who cares.

It’s just wild that the hyper focus on people with zero power and zero critical examination of the foreign policy of people who literally govern the country.

It’s also valid for the western left to pay particular attention to states like Israel and the UAE given that their regimes are propped up by western governments.

Our government already sanctions Syria and Russia, fine, treat all three states exactly the same.

I don’t know why pointing at Israel’s interference and extensive intelligence operations, which are interwoven with that of our own intelligence agencies is a huge taboo and should never be discussed or mentioned.

Especially when it does help degrade democracy at home.

In the same way that someone can express an idea that is rooted in anti-semitism, but not be ideologically committed to anti-semitism or hold explicit antipathy toward Jewish people

i think I’ve made it abundantly clear that there is a difference between holding a view and expressing a concern in a way that is racist or sexist and being racist or a sexist.

Not sure how that relates to this case or is relevant now
December 12, 2024 at 4:14 PM
If I thought you were a hard core racist or sexist I wouldn’t engage with you
December 12, 2024 at 4:00 PM
Where did I say “you, Peter Marshall are racist and sexist” in fact haven’t I gone out of my way to say the exact opposite.

I have called you a lib because lib isn’t an insult, it’s just a position

do you think that my point boils down to “u a liberal” or that this is hostile. I think actually breaking down the left position on Syria is worth doing
December 12, 2024 at 3:46 PM
It’s like how parts of left was called pro-Gadaffi because they opposed intervention in Libya. Turned out to be completely correct that regime change would fail on its own terms.

Same with claims about people labelled pro-Saddam
December 12, 2024 at 3:37 PM
I would also characterise that as a misrepresentation, the parts of the ‘left’ that are labelled as ‘pro-Assad’ are mostly made up of people uncomfortable with the push by the west to replace Assad with offshoots of Al Qaeda in the FSA.

It also allows blairites to ignore the fact that Assad propped was propped up by their heroes

Assad close to being knighted under Blair
TONY BLAIR’S government considered asking the Queen to bestow an honorary knighthood on President Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian dictator, official papers reveal. The decision to court Assad came

But I suppose it’s easier to label the criticism of Israel as primarily antisemitic because it allows white people to rationalise why they simply don’t care that mass graves we are filling with women and children as long as those murdered are Arab
December 12, 2024 at 2:04 PM
It’s just also BBC brained and a bit ignorant of the conditions of the group in Syria.

The most effective resistance to Assad and ISIS came from “Tankies” in Rojava. Much Kurdish resistance is anarcho communist
December 12, 2024 at 1:49 PM
The criticism of Israel primarily is because our taxes and governments are funding the genocide being done by that regime.

No western governments fund Assad or back him. Hence the domestic outcry.
