1 jaar geleden was er 1 maand na het verschijnen al een 3de druk van mijn boek over Ferdinand Verbiest, de vergeten Vlaming die astronoom en privéleraar werd van de Chinese keizer in de 17de E. Het verhaal van de eerste echte ontmoeting tussen China en Europa is intussen al aan zijn 5de druk toe.

i find this image so fascinating. it is both a literal example of authoritarianism but also a second-hand reproduction of the aesthetics of other authoritarian states. it's like a simulacra of authoritarianism whose purpose is to attempt to make the simulacra real.

2) Its economic news is "strong jobs report."

3) Every time I've checked in today, the coverage has been "illegal immigrants committing new crimes."

This is state propaganda, on a par with North Korea or PRC.
