I’m not offended if people think her lyrics are bad (that’s an evergreen critique). What bothers me is the snide and elitist derision. No one has to like her music - but some liberal men love nothing more than to take a powerful woman down a peg “just because”, and this woman in particular.

I have defended black artists in much the same way. It’s telling that “actual progressive” translates to “only progressive about people of my choosing”. The only thing progressives like you hate more than MAGA are women - esp women with power.

It’s a comment in general about posts like this that only pop off when this particular artist does anything. I have respected your work and voice for a long time and this kind of juvenile and frankly misogynistic nonsense is disappointing.

And in the process made it that much harder for people who need it to access it. It’s me - I’m people. My dermatologist prescribed ivermectin for rosacea. I had to fight for 3 months to get it covered by insurance. Just so much stupid.

As a white woman, I wish the same outrage could give Karen Attiah (among others) her job back. And there was/is outrage, pushback and cancellations; I have seen it. I and many of my peers are outraged that it didn’t work for her and others. Racism and misogyny is engrained and we must keep pushing.

It’s a choice to say this. Not just in 2025. But in a world where his finance had to attend his most recent game cloaked by security and covered by moveable walls because of presumed death threats - it’s really, really a choice. I guess misogyny is the great equalizer. And yes, I expect better.

He’s my senator. He was fine his first term, but nothing to brag on. But his constituents begged him to do more. And he did!! Most importantly, he isn’t asking for a reward for representing (the majority of) his constituents in exactly the way they have demanded. Others should pay attention.

Co-signed. I’ll add that my conservative parents managed to raise white boys into men who also do not subscribe to extremist, demeaning belief systems and that 2 of the 3 became quite liberal. Raising our sons to be this way is a choice by parents, not a consequence of society.

Kirk was practicing political theatre - not politics. Ezra Klein is smart enough to know the difference and he knows it. He’s simply banking on the American public to be too stupid to see the difference. And he might be right about the latter, and that makes his opportunistic drivel far worse.

When your MAGA father says “see even the NYT agrees with me” then you realize how ill-fitting this argument becomes in real life. They were the paper of record for decades and the Americans public simply deserves better. We deserve honesty and integrity and it’s in real short supply.
