Ugh I hope that people like this eventually become better informed. I hate these kinds of interactions. Once, when I was in high school, I asked some friends a question along the lines of "when you see someone attractive, what is it that makes them attractive? Can you try and describe it to me?"

It gives positive vibes to written messages, which is mostly how I present myself irl: genuinely positive. Sometimes I worry that it makes me seem childish, but it's genuinely me, so why shouldn't I use a sparkly positive heart emoji? Lol 💖💖

I settled on 💖 as my signature emoji because I love hearts, but sometimes people (especially people I know irl) get confused about the possible romantic connotations. The sparkly heart lessens that confusion, and also it has sparkles! 💖

Like you said, there's got to be a place to draw the line, right? But I don't think it's possible to have people agree on where that line gets drawn.
Maybe we each draw our own lines? But that falls back into the catagory of tuning out those who are projecting their lives onto the story.

Yes, you're so right. Stepping into the pov of a different person/character is such a good way to put it. And you have such a good point about overlaying personal experiences onto fictional characters can be a slippery slope.
