I designed a TikTok for Vision Pro using Sora.
Features:
1. Each "video" goes beyond 2D screens and frames, it can be made of volumetric entities in real space.
2. You can interact across spaces with livestreams, like tossing gifts into them as if they were real objects.

Me with AI glasses in the Cyberpunk 2077 world (I made three versions with Sora 2 spliced together: Corpo, regular, and a non-2077 TV-style one).

P.S. The third (MR goggles) is actually the most realistic, practical, and technically feasible type of multimodal AI wearable.

I submitted a breakout session at W3C's annual global tech conference (TPAC 2025) this November. The topic is "WebSpatial API for Spatialized HTML/CSS and Spatialized PWAs on spatial and multimodal AI devices"!

What OS architecture and development paradigm shifts follow?

Which New Web APIs are essential for the mainstream Web to get a boarding pass to such devices?

Why are client-side AI agents totally different from server-side AI agents yet just as important?

Why will client-side AI agents drive hands-free wearable multimodal devices to become mainstream platforms?

What new app capabilities are required on these devices?

WebXR sessions mimics traditional native XR apps, they take over the whole spatial environment and both eyes' views. That means they cannot coexist within the same space alongside other 2D/3D apps (2D overlays don't count), and they cannot even coexist with their own webpage content.

I was the only one at the table drinking Diet Coke. To my right: SDK/Runtime gurus and a Silicon Valley leader. To my left: browser engine experts and QA veterans. I've decided to call our gang the Spatial Syndicate.

You craving spatial power on the Web too? 👇

I have spent over a year working with the "Glass Material" UI, so let me stick up for Liquid Glass: do not dismiss it. It's not just about looks, It is a big, necessary fundamental shift as GUI software leaves flat screens and adapts to spatial computing so they can work with multimodal AI and AR/MR

Don't miss this talk at AWE on June 11 - we'll showcase some WebSpatial app demos.

WebSpatial is an open-source React SDK that lets you turn regular HTML/CSS-based websites into spatial apps on Vision Pro.

What if the web could be spatialized too?

🧵 Meet the ChatGPT Family:

1/ 4o is the 4th-gen of the old lineage, gifted but uneducated. Acts intuitively (auto-regressive generation) rather than through deep reasoning.

It seems like the RedNote protest by TikTok users is making some impact. Biden doesn’t want to end up with a bad rep 😅

These direct interactions between Chinese and American people, going beyond biases and echo chambers, are so wonderful and surreal.

I opened Xiaohongshu (RedNote) for the first time today on my way home from work, and my feed looked like this...

Actually, Unreal Engine's big goal is to turn itself into an OS, or at least a web browser.
December 29, 2024 at 9:53 AM
Maybe it's because GPUs and 3D programming are so complex, and as 3D demand expands from niche gaming to broader general computing areas, 3D engines are getting integrated into the OS, the OS manages more, apps do less, and apps no longer need to render their own graphics.

From the bottom of my heart, I hope MAGA and Trump become puppets and marionettes of the Tech-right, which would be the most accelerationist world and ideal for me. It would mean enjoying the benefits of Trump (see below image) without the risks and damages like

which they perceive as being “occupied” by legal immigrants, completely disregarding the skill set of their own (and the primary supply of human capital in the U.S. labor market) mismatching the demands of these jobs.

The recent intra-right civil war between the MAGA-right and Tech-right over high-skilled immigration is a continuation of this key issue from the election:

To provide this feature in native client apps, besides relying on virtual machines or hardware like Steam Deck, typical methods include room codes or share codes. Players copy and paste a number to join a battle room or share the 3D space they've created.

This killer feature of the Steam Deck is also one of the advantages of Web Apps (including Web Games, WebXR, and Spatial Web) — being able to leave the game at any time, then push the power button, instantly start the game and resume from the previous state — is a natural tendency of Web Apps. Initially, to ensure compatibility, the PICO browser's UA string was directly copied from the Quest browser, posing as the Quest browser. Later, we improved the browser to be more standardized and developer friendly. The new UA string is shown in the attached image.

I love this WebXR app recently released by Niantic, but I can't understand why the app divides all computing platforms into only three categories: "quest3", "android", and "desktop." It only displays the "VRButton" and checks for WebXR support if the platform is "quest3" (1/5)

At Siggraph Asia, the head of PICO foundation engineering gave a detailed presentation on the "unified rendering" capability that visionOS has but Android XR doesn't, which I mentioned before. Here's the full text of what was shared: developer.picoxr.com/news/multi-a...

Therefore, no single fixed background color can ensure that a 2D GUI remains legible and distinguishable in such a context. Consequently, MR OSs have to adopt a general design for all 2D GUIs, featuring semi-transparent materials and physically-based rendering effects.
