Astragalean819: An Astragalean clade-specific bait set to resolve phylogenetic relationships in #Astragalus

New in #AppsPlantSci by Daniele Buono, Gudrun Kadereit & @dfmoralesb.bsky.social

bsapubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.... #phylogenetics #botany #Fabaceae #plantscience
Coalescent species tree inferred by ASTRAL-Pro based on 819 homologous gene trees. Numbers to the right of nodes indicate local posterior probability. Pie charts at internal nodes indicate the percentage of quartets in gene trees that agree with the shown main topology (green; average 60.6%, minimum 39.3%, maximum 92.6%), the first alternative topology (yellow; average 18.6%, minimum 3.9%, maximum 36.9%), and the second alternative topology (orange; average 20.8%, minimum 3.5%, maximum 39.4%).

Violin plot showing the number of recovered genes reaching 50% (solid line) and 75% (dotted line) of the reference length across the five major clades of Amaranthaceae s.s., as well as the two genera Bosea and Charpentiera.

Happy to see this one out. We did a phylogenetic analysis of African Sesuvium using herbarium collections and genome skimming. We assembled ~9000 loci from orthologous genes identified from transcriptome data. We also described a new species! 🌿 #evobio #iamabotanist

Phylogenomics and Systematics of African Sesuvium (Aizoaceae)
Sesuvium (Sesuvioideae-Aizoaceae) comprises leaf succulent annual and perennial herbs distributed in coastal or saline sites of subtropical and tropical regions. Some species of the genus tolerate hig...

Here's a starter pack for early career researchers in evolutionary biology. I prioritized the most-junior folks, and this list quickly filled up with undergrads, grad students, and postdocs. Might do another list later, but I'm tired. Have fun everyone! 🐒 #evobio

This is great. I’d like to be included. Thanks!
