Also: if you love your country -- your actual country, not some airbrushed fantasy -- you will want to know about ALL its past, good and bad. If you insist on only allowing the good parts to be discussed, you are demonstrating that you do not love your country, as it is, which has flaws.
I'll say it a thousand times -- any account of the past that only celebrates the good parts of a nation without reckoning with the bad is not what we call "history"

It is propaganda, pure and simple.
You can't teach U.S. history without "divisive" narratives. Slavery wasn't "unifying." The Japanese incarceration wasn't "unifying." The anti-immigrant Operation Wetback (real name) wasn't "unifying."
It's history's job to tell the truth, not cover up past racism to pave the way for future racism.

Amen! We can’t afford to ‘stand by’ any longer!
Today’s protests were a start.
It’s going to take ALL of us!
In my opinion we need to shut this country down economically til they hear us loud and clear.
The ‘power of the purse’.

Trumpers: Democratic politicians are using a pizza shop to order children to drink their blood and live forever and hiring women makes planes fall from the sky.

Me: Elon Musk is stealing the data of every American.

Trumpers: Lolololol. You lefties and your insane conspiracy theories…

I can’t think of a better way to honor Jimmy Carter than donating to Habitat for Humanity. He and Rosalynn first began volunteering with the nonprofit in 1984 — 3 years after leaving the White House. They volunteered every year until 2020, eventually helping to build and repair 4,390 Habitat homes.

Introductions may be in order. I’m Dennis Freeman, and I am a retired educator (25 years teaching HS art, then about 10 years as a HS administrator). I lost my lovely wife of 37 years, Becky, in July to cancer. Adjusting to life with just my dog. Grandfather, reader, art & craft worker, volunteer.
