Absolutely, but that is the US system which is deeply flawed, I’m saying that there’s a fix that can include a for-profit-component. Not that I see it happening any time soon as long as lobby groups can spend unlimited amounts on politics/politicians through pacs/superpacs.

Not necessarily, I’ve lived in countries w single payer HC, private insurance can provide additional coverage/add-ons, but on the condition - again - that they comply (mainly on pricing & fees) If organized properly it’s an advantage to have private hospitals and insurance implicated in the system

US is already allocating a much higher % of GDP to healthcare vs countries w single-P HC system, SP doesn’t (necessarily) mean nationalized healthcare, just that there is a single national body that oversees the compliance of (also) private HC institutions in order for them to tap into the budget.
