Being a girls girl doesn’t mean you blame Taylor for any of this. And this just comes across as mean girl stuff.

Teachers in NC have to buy their own supplies

Just wondering if the best way to train teachers to respond to school shootings is to traumatize them? Like, I get why I have to exit the building with my hands up, but it’s also not a feeling I ever needed to experience. ❤️‍🩹

“I’m a real tough kid, I can handle my shit…” but I am still in my car in the parking lot. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway… my dad was a huge Red Sox fan. And he would have loved seeing them play in October. He also would be the least surprised at what just happened in right field.

third grade update: y’all check on the teachers in your lives, they’re tired. When I say I am spring break exhausted a month in, it’s not a lie.

Does in a classroom count? Cause it’s the thing I notice immediately when I walk into different classrooms.

Nonna’s on Netflix
I want my mom’s house, with Sunday sauce, a pastry box with a string, picking up my aunts and uncles and their plastic covers. Balm for the weary heart.

I think the most frustrating thing about watching UNC Football is that I will have to buy my own pencils for my classroom in NC this week and my NC evaluation says I consistently exceed expectations and my student exceed growth.

Anyway, in my world I had to teach third graders to hide behind my cabinets today. How to lay flat on the playground so they’re less visible and where to run to as a last resort. It’s always been the guns

Master’s (which they won’t pay for), highly qualified under their system, pay for all my own supplies, pay for all the snacks, no bereavement leave when my dad died, two personal days I have to apply for; teaching in NC is literally the worst job. Our kids and teachers deserve better.

Dear Football People visiting Chapel Hill… you got a beautiful weekend, enjoy.

School shooting
3rd grade lunch drama
3rd graders are feral and it’s like herding cats
NC is about to ban/politicize classroom libraries but there’s no budget and we did not get a raise
Health insurance premiums are set to double for 2026
I am so exhausted, it’s day two.

There is no way to describe what it’s like to be offline in a classroom all day and open the news to see another school shooting. Over and over again.

About to step into the new(est) classroom for the 24th year tomorrow. We’ve scrubbed, copied, cut bulletin board pieces and attended PD’s and we finally get to teach. Wishing all of the teachers (and their families) in my life a wonderful new year, filled with rewarding moments. It’s time to shine ❤️

Re-watching Monuments Men. Thinking about what I felt the first time I saw this movie versus the lens of 2025. Anyway, I finally got to see the Ghent Altarpiece this summer and it was all that was promised. We used to be the good guys.

I needed to pick up glasses at Costco. But the Apex Costco is an absolute nightmare. And the number of Tesla’s was too high of a ratio - I’ll try again another day.

Do the ice agents also have to buy their own supplies under this plan? With a $300 tax write off? If so, I’m in.

But teachers are expected to throw chrome books at gunman while shielding kids. Got it.

Here’s the thing about the possibility of a hurricane and NC. We’ve had rain every day for a month. We haven’t had a little rain, we’ve had major flooding. Even a brush with Erin would be catastrophic.

Love my job… But maybe people need to understand, human too. I’ve spent the last 10 days (unpaid) wiping, setting mouse traps, scrubbing rodent droppings, moving classrooms (while the thermostats are locked). I scrounged a new to me rug, which I rolled and took home to clean. I’m already tired.
