I agree it's going to get bad, but If we go down fast, so will the rest of the world. We're too intertwined. Foreigners own a lot of our debt. They also own a lot of our currency. Both of those would become worthless if they try to collect too fast.

They are often invited but don't accept. This seems like a solution waiting for a problem.

Only minor things that previously have been politically impossible, like stop minting the penny.
